Why Publish With JPOR

Polymer science operates at the intersection of chemistry, physics, engineering, and materials science — demanding publication venues that understand both molecular precision and macroscopic performance. JPOR offers researchers a trusted platform where synthetic innovation meets rigorous evaluation.

Our editorial board comprises leading polymer chemists, materials engineers, and characterization specialists who evaluate submissions across synthesis methodology, analytical rigor, structural elucidation, and mechanistic interpretation. Reviewers assess experimental design, spectroscopic evidence, thermal/mechanical analysis, and contextual positioning within current polymer literature.

Accepted manuscripts benefit from professional copyediting, high-resolution figure optimization, chemical structure verification, and immediate indexing across academic databases. Authors retain copyright under Creative Commons licensing, enabling unrestricted dissemination for teaching, research, and industrial application.

Open Access Advantage: JPOR publishes under CC BY 4.0 licensing, ensuring your polymer research reaches chemists, engineers, materials scientists, and industrial R&D teams worldwide without subscription barriers. All content remains freely accessible in perpetuity, maximizing citation potential and accelerating technology transfer.

Scope Highlights

JPOR welcomes research addressing the following polymer categories and applications:

  • Carbohydrate polymers: cellulose, starch, chitosan, alginate derivatives and their chemical modifications
  • Synthetic polymers: polyolefins, polyesters, polyamides, vinyl polymers, and acrylic systems
  • Water-soluble polymers: PEG, PVA, polyacrylamides, and hydrophilic architectures
  • Molecularly imprinted polymers: recognition sites, template strategies, and selective binding mechanisms
  • Polymer-drug conjugates: synthesis strategies, linker chemistry, and controlled release mechanisms
  • Mucoadhesive polymers: interfacial interactions, bioadhesion mechanisms, and mucosal delivery systems
  • Conducting polymers: charge transport, doping mechanisms, and electronic applications
  • Block copolymers: self-assembly, phase behavior, and nanoscale morphologies
  • Polymer blends and alloys: miscibility, compatibilization, and synergistic properties
Scope Clarification: While JPOR covers polymer applications in biomedical contexts (drug delivery systems, tissue engineering scaffolds), manuscripts must maintain focus on polymer chemistry, synthesis mechanisms, materials characterization, and structure-property relationships. Clinical outcomes, patient studies, and therapeutic protocols fall outside our scope.

Manuscript Preparation Guidelines

To maintain scientific excellence, JPOR requires authors to adhere to disciplinary standards for polymer research reporting. Comprehensive guidelines are available on our Instructions for Authors page.

Submission Requirements
  • Originality: Manuscripts must present unpublished research not under consideration elsewhere. Preprint posting on recognized servers (e.g., ChemRxiv) is permitted.
  • Authorship: All listed authors must have made substantive intellectual contributions. Follow CRediT taxonomy for contribution statements.
  • Language: Submissions must be in English. Consider JPOR's language editing service if needed.
  • Formatting: Use journal templates for structure. Include structured abstract (≤ 250 words), keywords, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and conclusions.
  • Chemical Structures: Provide high-resolution chemical structures using ChemDraw or equivalent. Ensure clarity at publication size.
  • Spectroscopic Data: Include essential characterization spectra (NMR, FTIR, MS) as supplementary files. Annotate peaks clearly.
  • Data Availability: Deposit large datasets, crystallographic data, or computational files in recognized repositories (e.g., Cambridge Structural Database, Polymer Data Handbook).
Peer Review Process

JPOR employs single-blind peer review, with option for double-blind upon author request. Manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening for scope fit, followed by evaluation by 2-3 expert reviewers. Reviewers assess:

  • Synthetic methodology and experimental rigor
  • Spectroscopic and analytical data quality
  • Structure characterization completeness
  • Mechanistic interpretation validity
  • Statistical analysis appropriateness
  • Literature contextualization and novelty

Authors receive decisions with detailed feedback typically within 3-4 weeks. Revised manuscripts are re-evaluated rapidly to maintain publication momentum.

Article Processing Charges

JPOR operates as an open access journal, requiring Article Processing Charges (APCs) to cover editorial operations, peer review coordination, copyediting, and permanent archiving. Detailed pricing and institutional discounts are available on our APC information page.

Waivers and reductions are available for authors from low-income countries and those facing financial hardship. Contact [email protected] to discuss eligibility before submission.
